What's Wrong with GMOs?

I have asked numerous people to define the term GMO and I have yet to come across one person who could give a totally correct answer. For the past 30+ years, a few American companies have been experimenting in the field of gene manipulation. Disregarding the basic laws of nature, these companies splice genes of animals, fungus, parasites, viruses, anti-biotics, petro-chemical fertilizer, fungicides, & herbicides into the DNA of plants (and some animals).

Through DNA manipulation, scientists have managed to cross the normal barriers between species that Mother Nature put there. Mother Nature can no longer recognize the results as plant or animal. That is why genetically modified "plants" are called "Organisms" instead of plants, because they are a mixture of plant, animal, fungus, petrochemicals, etc. GMO wheat or corn is an organisms, it is not a plant. Even if one is referring to a single wheat, one must refer to it as a plural organisms, because of its many components. When you see a TM (trademark) after the name of a plant in a seed catalog, you know that it is a GMO because the Biotech Company has filed a patent on it.

The following is an example of how Biotech scientists modify wheat:

They start with a wheat plant. Then they splice into the wheat's DNA the following genes:

·        Ergot: a fungus commonly known as wheat rust and used in the manufacturing of LSD

·        Flounder: a fish from the north pole region known for its anti-freezing properties

·        A specific brand of herbicide

·        A specific brand of petrochemical fertilizer so the wheat wants only specific brands of fertilizer and will not grow naturally in fertile soil.

Biotech companies have successfully designed each GMO to have terminator seeds. The GMO terminator seed isn't supposed to grow. This was done to keep farmers from being able to save the seeds from their harvested crops for the following season's planting. The Biotech company patents their GMO so that it becomes illegal to save seeds and farmers who suffer contamination from nearby GMO crops must pay royalties to the Biotech company!

What are common GMO Foods?

Wheat, corn, soy, tomato, potato, crookneck squash, papayas, etc the list goes on. There are about 40 varieties of GMO foods sold in the U.S. As a result, 60-70% of the foods in your grocery store contain genetically modified components. (From Organic Consumers Association) www.purefood.org
