An Excellent Synopsis on Water Fluoridation

This is a good synopsis on the history, politics, and the science behind fluoridation. At this writing, most of Europe has successfully banned fluoridation. The pro Fluoridation groups with deep pockets are actively ensuring that Americans are forcibly medicated with one of three most toxic elements on earth – fluoride – through water fluoridation. Unfortunately, the devastating effects of fluoridation never get into any mainstream news media. In the past, most have tried to turn their heads, but the ostrich with its head in the sand still dies. The water fluoridation issue is a political issue, not a scientific or medical issue.

“Truth is to Fluoridation what the Iceberg was to the Titanic”
Fluoride is not a nutrient. There is nothing in medical and biological sciences that has ever discovered an established need for fluoride. Nobody has ever been “fluoride deficient” and no one has ever died from a fluoride deficiency.

U.S. Public Health Service documents show that as far back as 1991, non-fluoridated communities were already receiving equal to and more fluoride than the targeted fluoride dosage of 1mg per day and fluoridated communities were getting 3 to 7 times the “optimal goal.”

The reason for this is due to the fact that when you go shopping for food, if it comes in a box, bottle or can, there is a 95% probability that it is “fluoridated”. You see, most of the food processors use fluoridated water in the preparation of the food that you purchase in the grocery store.

Laboratory analyses now show that most cola drinks have concentrations of .7 to 1PPM and up; and, because of fluoride-based pesticides & fumigants: most well known cereals at 2-10 PPM, fruit juices at 3-7PPM, lettuce at 180PPM, dried eggs at 500 PPM, fresh apples & peaches at 3-5 PPM , California wines at 6-8PPM, etc.

Not counting the amount absorbed through the skin in showering/ bathing in fluoridated water, which is more than in drinking the water, we are already getting a total daily impact for fluoride of 3-6Mg . We are overdosed and drowning in fluoride.

Please Note: Mother’s breast milk has only .004 PPM of Calcium Fluoride. 1PPM is 250 times more. GOD did not create people with fluorosis mottled teeth!
The famous scientist LEONARDO DA VINCI said: “Nature never goes back on its own laws.” Here’s what happens when you do:

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported in their November 2010 study

“Prevalence and Severity of Dental Fluorosis in the United States.” The 65 year flood of water fluoridation since 1945 had created a tsunami of dental fluorosis: 40.7% of 12-15 year olds (a cohort of 16,700,000 kids) have dental fluorosis!

The findings of the study were such a cause for concern, that in January 2011 (2 months later), the EPA lowered the suggested fluoride concentration in drinking water (to .7PPM) and rejected DOW Chemical’s request to continue/expand the use of their fumigant, Sulfuryl Fluoride. What would make the EPA do a 100MPH retreat on water fluoridation?

COINCIDENCE?

The CDC, EPA, and the ADA (American Dental Association) say “be happy-don’t worry” and claim that dental fluorosis is only a “cosmetic effect” — oh, does that mean that your child is only “slightly poisoned”? But, the numbers for moderate and severe fluorosis (3.6% of the total 16,700,000 kids) went up 66% and 177% from the 1986-1987 surveys. That’s 601,200 children with socially embarrassing, awful looking, and structurally weakened teeth! The numbers are even worse for African American and Hispanic children. DOLLAR COST: Bad teeth that can cost $20,000 to $50,000 for veneers ($100,000 over a lifetime). That is a lot of money for people that can’t afford toothbrushes and good diets for their children.

THE BIG LIE- FLUORIDATION HELPS THE POOR. Inner cities that have been fluoridated for 20-50 years have a cavity epidemic: 5 year olds in the emergency room for life saving dental surgery! How in God’s green earth does a child go to school and learn when they are in pain 24/7? Too bad less than 10% of the Pinellas County dentists will take Medicaid children as patients!

Dental Fluorosis – Fluoride Poisoning is the Canary in the Coalmine”: You should know Dental Fluorosis by its other name — FLUORIDE POISONING! This is an epidemic!

It isn’t just the teeth. If fluoride poisoning shows up in the teeth as dental fluorosis, then it is in the child’s entire skeletal structure! Fluoride is cumulative and since healthy kidneys only get rid of 50% of the daily burden (20% for children), the remaining 50%-80% accumulates in the bones, the pineal and thyroid glands, the aorta and major arteries, and the brain and is PERMANENT!

Fluoride is the single greatest facilitator of lead and aluminum into our bodies, helping these toxic compounds cross the Placental and Blood-Brain Barriers–think mental retardation and Alzheimer’s, for starters.

What is the cost of increasing Iodine Deficiencies; lowered IQ’s and developmental deficiencies such as autism/spectrum disorder; increased rates of hip fractures, Alzheimer’s and bone cancer; challenged kidneys /dialysis death, and diabetes?

The ADA doesn’t want to talk about it & our “watchdog-the CDC” is either sleeping or muzzled.
Safe? Ethical? The Journal of the American Dental Association, Vol. 126, p. 1625, Dec.1995: “The ‘optimal’ level of fluoride intake has NEVER been determined scientifically.” After 50 years they still didn’t know?
The American Dental Association states they have unequivocal and overwhelming evidence of the COMPLETE SAFETY of water fluoridation. The American Dental Association’s Paffenbarger Research Center, in March 2012, “We still do not know how much fluoride is required to prevent caries.” After 67 years they still don’t know?

You will find this hard to believe, but—
The fluoridation chemical used over 90% of the time is Hydrofluorosilicic Acid , a toxic waste product that comes straight from the wet smoke-stack scrubbers of the phosphate/fertilizer plants, placed in Tanker Trucks with HAZMAT LABELS, and delivered to your Water District and your faucet. You are now thinking: Are you __ kidding me? No purification process first? NOPE!

Unfortunately, it is not pharmaceutical grade fluoride (like in toothpaste), it is toxic garbage! (By the way, check the Poison Control Warning on your Toothpaste Box–and that’s for Pharmaceutical Grade!!) This toxic waste product contains fluoride, arsenic, lead, mercury, radium 226 & 228, cadmium, hexavalent chromium (think ERIN BROCKAVICH), beryllium and uranium 238. This toxic garbage isn’t even pure enough to be used for rat poison. If they poured it into the rivers, lakes or Tampa Bay, it would be an Ecological Disaster of epic proportions. (But it’s okay to dump it into your baby’s body and brain?) (Same toxic and poisonous garbage – different destination)

WHY HAZMAT LABELS AND EQUIPMENT? ” Sodium Fluoride is more poisonous/toxic than lead and just slightly less poisonous than arsenic.” Handbook of Clinical Toxicology of Commercial Products-5th Edition. Hydrofluorosilicic Acid is more corrosive and poisonous than sodium fluoride–and just about anything else known to man.

Do you still think that fluoride in your drinking water is safe? The FDA states, “Fluoride is a regulated drug when used for the treatment or prevention of disease, and that no fluoride substance intended to be ingested for the purpose of reducing tooth decay has ever been approved for safety and effectiveness.” The FDA has never approved any fluoride — of any kind — for human consumption. Fluoride is an unapproved drug! Hydrofluorosilicic Acid?

All the major studies show no statistical differences between fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities and countries worldwide. The only differences that show up is that the children in fluoridated communities have greater dental fluorosis and endocrine disruption with all its attended consequences. This is not new news! Did you know? It is an accepted medical fact that 1% of the U.S. population is either allergic to fluoride or has a high sensitivity to fluoride (10,000 people in Pinellas County). Their reactions can be devastating, debilitating, and deadly!

What do you call the mass-medicating of an entire populace, by inserting into the water supply a known poison, which is an FDA unapproved drug, without any “Informed Consent”, and with complete disregard for the individual citizens age, weight, existing health conditions ie:(kidney dialysis) (iodine deficiency) (heart disease) (diabetes) pregnancy, current medications/dosages, potential drug interactions, allergies or sensitivities, water consumption/requirements, or diet ?

If it is done by a Political Group from outside the USA it is called an ACT OF TERRORISM.

If it is done by a Political Group or Entity inside the USA it is called WATER FLUORIDATION.

Seven years ago, my wife asked me to look into the subject of water fluoridation. I said, “What! Are you kidding me? Water fluoridation to prevent cavities is right up there with Mom, Apple Pie, Puppies and the Flag. She said please! So I did. I had/have no ax to grind. If anything, at first, I must admit that I naturally leaned a little more to my own preconceived ideas on the subject that fluoridation was important to dental health.

But, when the lie is big enough and when you hear it often enough, long enough, from people you believe should know better—you not only believe it, you don’t even think about it—you just assume it to be true. And that is just what has happened with regard to water fluoridation: to you, to me, and to everyone else.

How Can Probiotics Help Fight The Common Cold?

A new study, led by Registered Dietician Tracey J. Smith, with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Health Related Professions, shows that Common cold symptom severity and cold duration are both lessened by probiotics supplementation.

The study, published in the British Journal of Nutrition, followed 198 Framingham University of Massachusetts dormitory- resident college students, ages 18-25 for 12 weeks. The study showed that while all the students caught colds, those that supplemented with probiotics experienced shorter duration colds (4 days as opposed to 6 in the other placebo group), missed less days of school, and had symptoms that were 34% less severe. Smith explains, “Cold symptoms like a stuffy nose and sore throat are the body’s inflammatory response toward a virus, not a direct action of the virus itself. Probiotic microorganisms may soften your immune system’s reaction by reducing your body’s inflammatory response.”

The findings of this study emphasize and corroborate what I know to be true – Probiotics form one of the primary immune systems of our bodies. One increases the balance of their gut by frequently consuming REAL fermented foods, and taking REAL probiotics, instead of consuming pickles or sauerkraut preserved with distilled white vinegar, or consuming GMO probiotics that are manipulated and programmed to die in 3 days.

These are readily sold in stores. If you want to find out if your probiotic is GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms), then call the company and ask them if they manipulate their probiotic strains.

The problem with GMOs is that they contain the DNA from plants, animals, fungus, viruses, bacteria, and other chemicals, creating end products known as funny sugars, proteins and starches. Have you ever wondered why so many men (and recently women) have been losing their hair? Have you wondered why as you get older, you seem to gain more girth and have more trouble taking it off? Do you wonder why you seem to be tired all the time, even after a good night’s sleep, or why you seem to be having sleep trouble? Do you sometimes have trouble focusing on a thought or feel “muddle- headed?” Contrary to what the medical society promotes that these are all disrelated symptoms to be handled separately with different drugs, all these may in fact be related and not difficult to correct. The key is in understanding the human body as a whole interrelated unit. When one thing is out of balance, it throws other, seemingly disrelated things out of balance. This is why drinking the wrong water is so bad. When you change the fundamental things in the body, you either get great success in a very short time (when you improve your diet and habits) or you get a slow health decline. If you don’t provide your body with the fundamental things it requires, then a deficiency occurs, which leads to an imbalance. Then it seems that you wake up one morning and your health is terrible, and you don’t know what happened.

Loss in Fertility? Why?

You may have been aware that 85 to 90% of the teenagers in America are practicing free sex without protection or contraception, yet there is a steady 10% annual decline in teen pregnancy. While sex education in school may contribute to this decline, according to some doctors, we are having a problem with infertility. 25% of the teenagers are sterile and 30 to 40 % of them are infertile (occasionally fertile) which means that the remaining 35% has to match up with other fertile teens in order to conceive. Of course this does not frequently happen, hence the low teen pregnancy rate.

Thirty years ago most of us did not know what a fertility clinic was. Today, the married people in their 30’s and 40’s, who are infertile and want kids and also have an excess $10 to $24,000.00 are supporting hundreds of fertility clinics across our nation. Though they only promote a 12 to 18% success rate, and the fees are so exorbitant, many couples feel it is a small price to pay to have offspring. What they don’t realize, is that most egg donors as well as the egg receiver end up with ovarian cancer in 10-20 years as a result of the infertility treatments, due to the hormone shots they must both take. These are all bad indicators regarding the hormonal health of our nation.

Hormone Pollution :
What is causing these hormonal imbalances? Birth control pills: Once a woman has taken birth control pills for two weeks or longer, her hormonal levels are forever changed for herself and her subsequent children

Consumption of commercially raised beef and chicken and farm-raised fish, which contains antibiotics and steroids (estrogen mimicking material)

Plastics: Plastic jugs used for drinking water and milk, saran wrap (and when you microwave food covered with this, you get a thousand times even more plastic poisoning and a nuclear blast of female estrogen mimicking materials) plastic utensils, plastic dishes, paper dishes coated with plastic, Styrofoam containers for hot foods, especially when food goes from a hot Wok or microwave straight into the Styrofoam if you do a close inspection you can actually holes and pits and Styrofoam melting! What about hot coffee in our typical Styrofoam cups or soft plastic cups?

Pesticides and herbicides on our commercially grown fruits and vegetables and the grains that beef and chickens eat. Note: today pesticides are intrinsic (meaning inside) the plant. Therefore, you cannot wash them off. Pesticides and herbicides mimic estrogen and are known or suspected carcinogens. In Mexico where farming applies heavy aerial sprays for pesticides and herbicides the cancer rates are astronomical; many reports exist on this subject.

Baby soy formula: When you feed a baby soy infant formula, you are giving them the equivalent of 5-7 birth control pills per day!

The almost constant consumption of soy and soy products (in almost all commercially prepared food), soy oil, soy milk, tofu, salad dressings, protein powders, fried foods, pastries and dough, mayonnaise, facial creams, bread, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, emulsifiers, food thickening agents, vitamins made from soybean, gel caps, protein powders, pizza crust, fast food, restaurant food, etc.).

Ground water contamination through the urine of women on birth control pills or HRT(Hormone Replacement Therapy), as well as industrial chemicals. You may have heard several years back in the Midwest they found multi-legged frogs. The scientists initially blamed the textile industry estrogen mimicking toxic waste. However they could not duplicate multi legged frogs with the said suspect chemical, but they were successful when they used potable (drinking) water that had been reprocessed from city reclaimed water. In other words, the sewage processing plants do not destroy the drugs and many chemicals that get poured down the sewer lines. The cleaned up water which is returned to the rivers and underground water table is actually contaminated with various psychiatric drugs, birth control pills, the various medical drugs and industrial waste.

Teflon (Ammonium Perfluorooctanoate a.k.a. C-8) has been linked to cancer, organ damage and other health effects. Though not an estrogen it is certainly something to be very aware of and to avoid at all cost. Teflon chemical formula -(CF2CF2)- C: carbon F: fluoride. In 2 to 5 minutes on a conventional stovetop, cookware coated with Teflon and other nonstick surfaces can exceed temperatures at which the coating breaks apart and emits toxic particles and gases linked to hundreds and perhaps thousands, of pet bird deaths and unknown number of human illness each year, according to tests commissioned by Environmental Working Group (EWG).

“In retrospect, this may seem one of the biggest, if not the biggest, mistake the chemical industry has ever made,” said Jane Houlihan, VP for research at the EWG. “And how could they not be in our blood?” Houlihan said. “They’re in such a huge range of consumer products. We are talking about Teflon, Stainmaster, Gore-tex,(GORE-TEX® fabric is wearable weather protection) Silverstone. So if you buy clothing that’s coated with Teflon or something else that protects it from dirt and stains, those chemicals can absorb directly through the skin. What do all these things (that cause hormone imbalances) have in common? They mimic estrogen. But wait, you say, estrogen is supposed to be good for women! This is all false data. We have too much estrogen-mimicking things in our environment, as you can see by the above list. This excess estrogen in our diet and in our environment is causing our men and boys to get man-boobs, and to become Buddha- like, while losing their hair and their sex drive. It is causing women to have PMS, hot flashes, mood swings, breast cancer, and menstrual difficulties. It is causing us to have cancer and infertility.

What To Do? The Solution:

1. Eat lots of beef, chicken, lamb, pork that is naturally grown on pastures without grain, soy and most importantly no GMO corn, soy, antibiotics, steroids and hormones. Chicken, Pork and Beef are basically not fed the correct food nature intended them to eat in America. Chickens are birds – They should eat 70% insect type protein and 30% vegetables, grasses, and grains. Commercial chickens are fed GMO (genetically modified organisms) corn, soy and steroids (a type of estrogen), antibiotics (primarily used to fatten the chickens and secondarily to prevent disease because of confinement, lack of sun and constant fecal matter that they walk in).

Cattle are suppose to be eating grass, but modern technology has bred the cows to eat highly acid forming grain. And of course to make matters worse, they feed them GMO corn, soy, antibiotics and steroids. Farm raised fish eat grain and antibiotics and hormones. This upsets all of the animals’ hormone levels, so that they do not provide the same nutrients to us when we eat them as if they were in the wild. How could you expect to get healthy from eating sick, imbalanced animals and fish?

2. Eat the ONLY soy that can be consumed with health benefit: Soy sauce, Miso, Natto, & Tempeh, as well as other heavily fermented soy products, which most Westerners will not eat. This does NOT include soy milk, soy oil, hydrolyzed soy protein, hydrolyzed vegetable oil, vitamins made from a soy base, lecithin (99% is made from soy) and soy protein powder.

3. You (Men and Women) can use a bio-identical progesterone cream to balance out the excess estrogen. 4. What bodybuilders use to counteract the effects of steroids (which turn into excess estrogen) is a natural supplement called 6-OXO, an estrogen blocker. The cheapest source for it is www.vitamaker.com. It is not ever to be taken by women, as it totally blocks estrogen uptake in the body and naturally increases the manufacture of testosterone.

There’s another piece of the vitamin K2 puzzle I want you to know about: If you’re taking a calcium supplement without vitamin K2, you could be in real danger.

If there’s no vitamin K2, the osteocalcin floats through your blood stream and gets stuck to the walls of your blood vessels and the valves of your heart. Once there, it grabs onto calcium – just as it would in your bones.

It’s this calcium run amuck that hardens your arteries and spikes your risk of heart attack.

But vitamin K2 stops calcium from building up in your heart and blood vessels.

The landmark Rotterdam Heart Study published by The Journal of Nutrition,followed 4,800 people for 7 years. It revealed that those who took in the highest amount of vitamin K2 had less calcium buildup in their aorta and 57% fewer deaths from heart disease.3

But here’s the most amazing thing. Even after calcium starts to build up in your blood vessels, vitamin K2 can reverse the damage.

It does this by activating two proteins that clear away dead cells and other debris. This is the garbage that combines with calcium to form deadly arterial plaque.4

In fact, an animal study from the Netherlands showed that high levels of vitamin K2 can actually reverse the buildup of plaque in the arteries by up to 50%.5

Would You Brush Your Teeth With Rat Poison?

Here is a great article  from  Jason Kennedy writer of “The XFactor,“. He explains that Fluoride  used to be a key ingredient in rat poison and is still used in some pesticides. In spite of the propaganda that is prevents cavities, fluoride has been proven to be detrimental to our health.

We have a long history of using this toxic waste product to protect our teeth without questioning the level of toxicity and side effects. There are a few tips on how to eliminate fluoride from your body and evidence from studies

Fluoride is a toxic waste byproduct, Yet we use it to “protect” our teeth.

From the time we were kids, we grew up confident that our fluoride toothpaste was keeping us safe from cavities. In fact, we celebrate the use of fluoride.

In 1999, the Centers for Disease Control claimed that adding fluoride to the water supply was one of the 10 greatest public health achievements of the 20th century.

So how did fluoride – a toxic industrial waste – become the darling of dentists and public health authorities?

Here’s the disturbing story of fluoride… and a few simple tips on how you can AVOID this misunderstood poison.

Just before World War II, H. Trendley Dean, a dentist working for the U.S. Public Health Service conducted a study of tooth decay in 345 communities in Texas. He found that communities with about 1 part-per-million (ppm) of fluoride in their water supply had fewer cavities.

Declaring this the “optimal level” of fluoride for dental health, Dr. Dean advised adding fluoride to the public drinking water.

The timing of Dr. Dean’s research was perfect for the government’s new atomic bomb industry which was using fluorine to enrich uranium. Fluorine is a toxic and corrosive gas found in nature. Extremely reactive, fluorine readily combines with minerals to form different fluorides.

These fluorides are hazardous byproducts of industrial processes like making bombs, smelting aluminum and producing phosphate fertilizers.

Thanks to Dr. Dean, rather than paying to dispose of a hazardous waste, these businesses could now sell fluoride to municipalities for their drinking water systems.

But this widespread “public health” initiative was based on bad science that has since been discredited.

Scientists reviewing the Texas study revealed that Dr. Dean selectively used findings from 21 cities to support his conclusions while ignoring data from 272 communities that did not support his results.

And since then, there has not been one single double-blind study proving that fluoride in the water reduces cavities.

In fact, mounting scientific evidence shows that fluoride increases cavities.

The largest study of 400,000 students revealed that tooth decay increased 27% with a 1 ppm fluoride increase in drinking water.

The National Institute of Dental Research conducted another review of 39,000 U.S. school aged children and found that 1 ppm of fluoride in the water supply increased tooth decay by 5.4%.

At the same time, more and more studies attest to the serious health dangers of fluoride:

Heart Disease: Fluoride is linked to higher cardiovascular disease risk. A recent study of 61 patients published in the journal Nuclear Medicine Communications found a significant correlation between fluoride and calcification (hardening) of the arteries found in atherosclerosis, as well as increased cardiovascular events.

Brain Damage and Low IQs: More than 100 published studies document fluoride’s damage to the brain. Just this year, researchers from Harvard University’s School of Public Health found that children in high-fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ scores than those who lived in low-fluoride areas. They raised the alarming possibility of an adverse effect of high fluoride exposure on children’s neurodevelopment.

Cancer: Studies from Dr. Dean Burk, former head of the Cytochemistry Section at the National Cancer Institute, estimate that fluoridation caused 10,000 excess cancer deaths. His conclusions were based on a study of rats that drank fluoridated water and showed an increase in tumors and cancers in oral squamous cells and thyroid cells, and rare forms of bone and liver cancer.

The US Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry lists fluorides among the top 20 substances posing the most significant threat to human health. Yet over 70% of the U.S. public water supply — affecting over 180 million people every day — is fluoridated.

What Can You Do To Reduce Your Exposure?

1. Consider Using a Non-Fluoride Toothpaste.

Since 1997, the FDA has required all fluoride toothpastes to carry the following label:

“WARNING: Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately.”

The sad fact is that each tube of toothpaste contains enough fluoride to kill a small child.

Tom’s of Maine, Nature’s Gate and Burt’s Bees all make fluoride-free toothpastes that are widely available in stores or online.

2. If You Can Afford a High-End Water Filtration System… Use It

Fluoride is very difficult to remove from water and most home filtration systems are ineffective. That includes the charcoal-based filters, like the standard Brita filter, etc.

The only way to ensure purity is to install a high quality water filtration system in your house. This is the type of system that filters ALL the water coming into your home… not just the water that comes out of your refrigerator.

Remember that you’re exposed to fluoride not only when you drink water but when you bathe and cook with it. (Never use tap water to cook pasta or rice!)

And don’t rely on bottled water. It’s estimated that 40% of bottled water comes right from the tap. You are getting excess estrogen from the plastic bottle, and sometimes the water is laden with bacteria. Some brands even advertise added fluoride!

3. Buy Organic Produce

Produce grown with fluoride-based pesticides can have extremely high levels of fluoride. Iceberg lettuce tests at an astounding 180 times the recommended levels. Other foods that have high fluoride levels include citrus fruits, potatoes, grapes and raisins. Buy only organic versions of these foods to minimize your exposure.

4. Detox Regularly

If you are concerned about years of exposure to environmental fluorides and fluoridated water, you might want to consult with a natural healthcare provider about a detoxification program.

Liver cleanses, dry saunas, supplemental boron and Ayurvedic herbs have all been found to be effective in lowering fluoride levels in the body.

Bottom Line:

If you or someone you know has had long term exposure to fluoride you should take the necessary steps to remove this toxic substance from your home, food, and body.

The water you drink and bath with is a vital component to your overall good health. Correct water filtration you use can eliminate the fluoride, toxic metals and arsenic from your water. Most water filters claim they can take out 80% of the toxins for up to 6 months and then the percentages go down.

What is CoQ10?

CoQ10 is an enzyme that is found in virtually every cell in the body and is a vital part of the process that generates 95% of the body’s energy. CoQ10 is an important antioxidant that works against fat and protein oxidation. Additionally, it regenerates other antioxidants, such as vitamin E.

“Immune system cells divide more rapidly than most cells, and they are in constant need of repair and maintenance. All of this work requires energy reserves, and CoQ10 is a critical co–factor in our energy–production pathways. Why don’t people have enough CoQ10?

  • Aging: Around age 35 the body starts producing less and less. At the age of 80, for example, CoQ10 levels are cut by more than half.
  • Statin Drugs: Lower the body’s CoQ10 reserves at the same time
  • High Cholesterol or High Blood Pressure: Increase the body’s need for CoQ10 and deplete the body’s supply.
  • Poor Nutrition: Most people don’t eat enough of the foods rich in CoQ10.

How can I add CoQ10 to my diet?

To give your body the most CoQ10 possible it is a good idea to pick up a supplement at your local health food store and add as many of the following foods to your diet as possible. The recommended dose of coenzyme Q10 for adults is 30 to 200 mg each day, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

More extensive Internet research found that the clinical studies used therapeutic doses of 360 mg/day.

Food sources alone may not be enough for those deficient in CoQ10. To put dietary CoQ10 intake into perspective, one pound of sardines, two pounds of beef, or two and one half pounds of peanuts, provide only 30 mg of CoQ10. However, as you can see from the list below, many foods contain CoQ10.

Meat
Pork heart, reindeer meat, and beef heart are the three foods with the highest amounts of CoQ10. Others include pork, beef liver, beef, pork liver, and ham. Frying meats tends to reduce their levels.

Oils
Sesame oil and corn oil have high amounts of CoQ10. Oils with lesser amounts include sunflower oil and safflower oil.

Fish

Sardine, mackerel, cuttlefish, yellow tail, tuna, herring, and pollock have moderate to high amounts of CoQ10. Eel, trout, and flatfish also contain a small amount.

Nuts, Beans and Seeds
Peanuts, sesame seeds, pistachios, walnuts, adzuki beans, and hazelnuts contain moderate to high amounts of CoQ10. Almonds and chestnuts have a small to moderate amount.

Chicken and Eggs
Chicken has a moderate amount of CoQ10; boiling chicken retains more coenzyme Q10 in the meat than frying. Eggs have a small amount of CoQ10.

Vegetables
Spinach, broccoli, sweet potato, sweet pepper, garlic, peas, cauliflower and carrots contain small to moderate amounts of CoQ10. It is best to steam or boil the vegetables instead of frying them as the CoQ10 loses potency when cooked with high direct heat.

Though most of us probably need more CoQ10 in our diets, if you want to take the therapeutic dosage, it is a good idea to check with your doctor or health practitioner before doing so, as it may interact with other medications.

Holiday Super Foods

It is the holiday season and a time to celebrate and give thanks. It is also a time for many of us to indulge in many different food and drinks.

Cacao- One of the best antioxidants you can find and wonderful when added to desserts. The reason it is one of the best antioxidants is because of its high ORAC levels (oxygen radical absorbance capacity). The cocao content should be at least 70% to receive its antioxidant and heart health benefits.

Butternut Squash – It is highly nutritious, rich in phytonutrients, vitamin A, B vitamins, and minerals, especially potassium.
